Ti
Point Chardonnay 2011
A luscious, dry, white
wine
Winemaker : Tracy Haslam
Grapes : 100% Chardonnay
Region : Hawkes Bay
Appearance : Pale Straw
STYLE: DRY
Vintage Summary
The grapes for this Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay were sourced from
an early ripening site and thus avoided the vagrancies of weather
that plagued Hawke’s Bay over much of the 2011 harvest.
Vinification
About half of the grapes came from a hillside vineyard and were
handpicked and whole bunch pressed. The resulting, very pure,
finely structured juice was fermented and aged in barrel. Indigenous
yeast carried out the ferment and post fermentation the lees
were stirred regularly to give added texture and flavour complexity.
The rest of the grapes were gently pressed and fermented in tank
to retain their vibrant fruit flavours on the palate and freshness
on the finish.
Both portions underwent malo-lactic ferment and after 10 months
ageing, they were combined and bottled in January 2012.
Winemakers Notes
Aromas of vanilla, spice and peach laced with hints of toasted
almonds and mandarin give complexity and appeal to the nose.
In the mouth this Chardonnay has an inviting rich texture that
persists through the palate highlighting the ripe stone-fruit
flavours. Finely structured with persistent yet integrated limey
notes on the finish give length, and balance the richness of
the palate.
