Ti
Point Matriarch 2010
AS RICH IN FLAVOUR AS IT IS IN COLOUR
Winemaker : Tracy Haslam
Grapes : 100% Syrah
Region : Matakana Coast – Auckland
APPEARANCE : Rich Ruby Red
STYLE: DRY
VinTAGE SUMMARY
2010 was a sensational vintage for the Auckland Region. The drought
like conditions that the vines favour has produced amazing fruit
which was harvested at its optimum condition. Ti Point Estate
enjoyed a relaxed and enjoyable vintage with no disease pressure
or severe weather events to contend with.
Vinification
The optimally ripened grapes were hand picked, chilled and destemmed. The grapes
went through a long fermentation period of nine days that was followed by two
weeks of post fermentation maceration. The wine was gently basket pressed and
aged for ten months in a selection of new, one and two year old oak barrels.
To protect this delicately balanced Syrah, it was minimally fined with egg
white and only filtered using a rockstopper.
Winemakers Notes
The exceptional Syrah fruit has produced
a wine that is as rich in flavours as it is colour. Savoury,
earthy aromas are enhanced with hints of exotic flora and cloves.
It has a rich, velvety texture that is completed by a peppery
spicy finish. The soft tannins that are integrated with the acid
structure, give the wine a wonderful length and persistence on
the palate. A Syrah that will only continue to improve with age.
Cellaring : Drink from 2012,
